Hi Graeme

Just to let you know how our trip went to Nyati. Both my wife and I were really impressed with the lodge. Our room had a great view of the estuary and was very comfortable and spacious. The food was also very good and because we were the only guests we got to choose our meals, which my wife was very pleased about (her being a bit of a health freak) so it was salads and grilled couta most of the time.

Unfortunately for the first 3 days the wind blew hard, so we were restricted to fishing the estuary catching small kingies, snappers, sea pike and springers but at least it gave me something to do. With the wind came rough seas which was ideal for the sand spit and we got some nice GT's on light tackle. My wife got a GT of about 10 kg's on a 9 foot Excelar rod and a Sustain 5000 reel. The one morning we walked to the spit and I got 3 GT's of around I2 kg's, 2 really big green spots and 2 yellow tail kingies also on light tackle so things started looking up and the moods a lot better.

Our second last day the sea improved dramatically and Paul took me to one of his better reefs and we had about an hour and half of non stop action before the sharks moved in but it was realy exciting while it lasted and we got a lot of species. That afternoon we fished the pinnacles close to the lodge and the fish were really on! We caught some nice bludger's, yellow spots and big bonnies all on light drop shot outfits.
On the last day of our stay we got an early start and went back to the pinnacles and the fish were there but had lock jaw, totally different to 8 hours earlier. One can never work out the ocean!

So all in all I was happy with the the last 3 days of fishing at least we had that window of good weather and fishing because as we left the wind started up again and was predicted to blow for the next 4 days.

Anyway keep well and keep me in the loop with trips on offer because will be doing this anually.

Regards
Chris
